Default Patriot Steering Fail / Stall

Hi guys I just bought the minister for war a 2013 Jeep Patriot , awesome little car but if any of you have had drama coming to a roundabout or intersection while decelerating using the manual gearbox and the steering goes dead & the engine stalls , there is a flash update coming to fix the glitch in the engine control module , until it arrives don't use the manual box to aid in breaking the vehicle , hard I know but just coast in using the brakes , scary as phuck when it happens but just re- start and it's good to go , let your dealer know of the problem .

Angry Very scary

I have just had this happen to me several times. Patriot is one month old, bought on 6th of June 2013 Model. Nearly killed my kids and I when it stalled suddenly with no warning, lost power. Steering and engine just stopped, all other electronics were fine. Jeep assist have now towed it to nearest dealership, who now tell me that it is a software update however the update can only be done by a specialist who has to be flown from Melbourne to my Jeep in regional Qld, which of course will take at least a week and a half, not a good start to my Jeep experience.
Was told by the service centre that it is a known fault and the dealership should never have allowed me to drive it without the software update, the fact that I drove it 3 and a half hours home up the Bruce highway scares me stupid, if it had of happened at high speed with a truck up my ass I would have kissed my life goodbye.
Now I'm even wary of driving it once its fixed, just in case it happens again.

The flash update is available from your dealership , iv flashed 23 vehicles including my wife's and everything is great now , if they give you shit about it not being in the vin range tell them to do it anyway , it may be a different PCM but the internal software is the same as 4 of the ones iv done were outside the specific vin range
