Hey Bloke - welcome to the forum!

Are you sure that this is the problem? Has your WH had the latest N23 software update recall done on it?

If you are saying to yourself "What's the N23 recall?" and you have a spare few hours you can read all about it here:

http://www.ausjeepoffroad.com/forum/...d.php?t=128329
(I've made this thread a sticky now by the way)

Basically, Jeep stuffed up everyone's 4WD systems with the first recall and finally in about July 2014 they released a permanent fix. See from around page 60 of that thread onwards.

You can check with any dealer what the latest recall completed on your WH was by supplying the VIN. If it is prior to July 2014, go and get the new update done - it is free. Even if it has been reflashed since then, there is no guarantee that they got the procedure right as they need to have a battery charger attached at all times during the procedure to make sure that the battery stays at the correct voltage.

Hope this helps?

Thanks.! Yes took it to Jeep when I bought the vehicle to see and they said the latest software was installed already. The 4Low was working a few weeks ago but since clapped out. All fuses are okay. Not sure where to look next. :-/

IN US on Jeep Forum even the new N23 software updates are failing on some vehicles. the latest one only came out a few months ago. after the July 2014update .A lot of owners got notification of this last recall. Go back to the dealer again and ask what updates have been done get them to write it down for you if they don't play ball go direct to FCA ASAP and tell them you have the N23 problem. As Hanna said some dealers were not doing the N23 updates correctly to start with. When did you buy the vehicle.? FCA will now pay all costs for the N23 fix plus any out of pocket expenses. FCA are in deep poo in Aus over poor customer service and lack of spare parts. ACCC have put them on notice.

I don't think you can Hang the "service 4 wheel drive" error on the N23 recall.
It could be other things 3-4 years ago (N23 recall was 2 years later) I had to replace the transfer case selector motor and the TCM module due to the "service 4 wheel drive" error, that eventually went into limp mode.

The dealers know what DTC are to do with the N23 recall, best to get the Jeep scanned or buy your own like Autoenginuity to suss it out.

Cheers. Yeah I bought the vehicle about a month ago and had the stealership look over it. All they said was "it already had the latest software update". But who knows really. I spoke to a bloke who bought an aftermarket servo motor that fixed his issue which was a blown servo motor. But mine was working. This first time the message appeared, ended up being a fuse. But all fuses are okay now. Maybe it has blown up. How much will the TCM module set me back? I know an aftermarked motor is around $450

If you intend to do your own servicing and repairs, get a code reader that gets into the WH Jeep, I use
https://www.autoenginuity.com/produc...mily-ei04.html
at $US600 and confirmed it has got every code the dealers have got so far.
Clarkie, has found one for 1/3rd of that price.

The DTC codes in conjunction with the service manuals will tell you which parts to replace or repair in a logical order. Have you the service manuals?

Without the code reader and service manuals you may end up replacing parts that were good.

TCM ...Transmission Control Module (black electronics box) $US240.00 Inc freight 5 day delivery plus $200.00 for the dealer to programme it to talk to all the other modules.
Jeep wanted $900.00 30 day delivery and a local jeep wrecker wanted $900 for a used one!
Transfer case control motor think I paid about $US240 delivered as well, that was plug and play.

Thanks. I did buy a service manual that is on burnt DVD. Funnily enough I haven't seen the servo motor of 4WD system faults/servicing in there yet, but most other stuff is. I will look at getting that scan tool. I have seen Autoengenuity on fleabay for about $200 delivered. I am getting tired of electrical faults. Lately I've been thinking of how I could start removing systems to make the vehicle more reliable. LOL
No fault codes appear on my iOBD2 Xtool. Maybe needs a specific Jeep software. You are correct in no point buying parts if there is a chance might not be the problem.
