Mostly have to be careful with going too fast over a ridge or jumping the front in the air.

I've pushed my front end through some VERY deep and soft sand without issue because I was going quite slow, low range, low tyre pressures etc.

Thanks for the info. Appreciate the feedback and hopefully one will have input to give back.

If the sump guard comes off that easy should I just unbolt and leave it at home?

I'd keep it fitted - just be prepared to bin it during your trip.

Went well although the sand was a lot softer earlier in the year. The belly skid is nicely worn, but no damage. Worse bit was between Middle Road and Tangalooma - coming back up the hill from the resort. There were some pretty nicely dug holes from previous vehicles being bogged which caught me with no where to go. A good tip would be to use the manual paddles to hold some of the gears longer so you don't change at the least opportune time.

I was there a couple of weeks ago and with all the recent rains the sand is pretty compact. I was there in a JK but saw a couple of Kia Sorrentos do it easily. You should have no problems right now.
