dead
xj 96 178k
??? Problem solvers please?
Died at lights when slowing down, wont start. sounded like fuel not getting through when restarting.
Fuel pump changed, fuel lines tested fuel is getting through. Fuel injecters checked all good.
Spark plugs changed, it does spark.
Did get it running for two minutes, then died again and wont restart. It still sparks.
If it had an immobilizer then that would be next step of call but does not. issue is parallel to it having one though.
All was good before issues arose. Works done before stalling were transfercase oil change, throttle body removal and cleaned,( since checked and all connectors good), Switched to 98 and added octane booster one week before stalling. As mentioned all fuel lines are clear....
Please any thoughts? Its putting my work/income out.

Have you tried to start it again? did it start? when you were trying to get it started was it trying to kick like a flooded engine? if so it might be your throttle position sensor it might of went belly up when you cleaned the throttle body were they taken off during cleaning? as you have spark it is not your crank or cam sensors check the vac hose on the map as well I think it will be one of them what fuel pressure do you get at the rail around 50?
its a throttle body sensor I think check all 3 of them out
all of mine got old and died on my 96

If there is spark , air and fuel than the only thing left to check is timing and compression .

Its OBD2, so you should be able to plug a cheap code reader in and check for any faults or codes that may be coming up.
I would honestly swap the coil out. I had exact same conking out issues and intermittent problems. You can get a spark while cranking, but not "enough" or intermittent spark to actually run the car. They are so cheap to replace, that i do mine every few years regardless. Jeeps eat coils, rotors and caps.
Check all vacuum hoses. A small crack or a dislodged hose can wreak havoc.
You can check compression, but the 96 is pretty much bullet proof at 170k. Mine is at 325k and runs like new.
I dont know much about the TPS, but as mentioned, you may have upset it while cleaning the throttle body. Perhaps reading the codes may shed some light.
Good luck.. i hate weird problems like this too...
Cheers,

Alex the coil was changed. I will check hoses and compression, timing as well.
The TPS was cleaned yes. I will check it again.
Dont know about the crank position sensor.
