Actually I forgot to cover that. Torque Pro and most others do not work on the CRD. There is a software package that is cheap/free that is listed in the "Everything 2.7" thread in the stickys that works and it has been mentioned in a recent thread too if you search.

most times I found its not software issue but the chip inside the ELM cable.
I hate these ELM cables and Bluetooth , I prefer a tool , and I have read there are a few that will read/clear errors from CRD, but as long as your engine light is not on , then take the battery off , clean the connection on the battery , L@@K at the module in the passenger side door , it also contains the antenna wire. and check the motors for the locks and wires that run up to the sensor to the drivers side key lock.

I can say first hand that those cheap scanners and some more expensive ones, I have two cheaper scanners ( cost between $150 & $220 each) and both didn't pick up codes that a snap on scan tool did, while it gave me some major codes, it didn't give me other codes that were relating to the main code giving me a much better idea on the exact issue. My mechanic charges a small fee to have the codes read on his tool, that would be my suggestion, these scan tools are an aid, but not a diagnostic tool.

Thanks everyone for the advise and links.
I had a good look at the battery terminals this morning and dicovered that the negative one was just a wee bit loose... harley noticeable. So I changed it for a new one £2 and now everything is working just fine. It's amazing what can go wrong if a batery terminal is not quite perfect.

Bad earths will do it every time.

Torque Pro didn't work for codes on mine and I thought Drover was the same. Same OBD dongle I was using in the Jeep works on the Challenger so not sure what the issue was if those guys are having success.

it is all the way the obd connector is wired , there are 16 pins and not not all are wired the same way , some will have resistors and chips inside so they will only work on certain software. some are just plain not made well at all, like some on e bay.
do you have a lap top ? I have a few ELM that run a USB , one also has switching.
