If your intention is to use it offroad regularly and do the tougher tracks buy a rubicon.
As for oil consumption on the 3.8s, we have seen this before but overall they are a durable engine, little down on power and torque but reliable. As for thirst, all depends on your tyre and gearing combo.
As for the CRD, I would avoid them, parts pricing is ludicrous, fuel economy is nothing special when compared to the Pentastar at least and they are struggling to do high miles.
