Default High steer kit ... Is it necessary?

Hi guys,

I believe I have a 2.5" lift kit fitted, and not sure what i should do next..

I spoke to DBOR, today about some details on my car etc. etc. (as they were the company that fitted the suspension for my previous owner) found out that i need to replace my ball joints which i will do, and I enquired about a fox steering damper and relocation kit.

The boys mentioned that I should fit a high steer kit to the car. That it will "be better to drive, and steer" can people who know about this modification or have had it done/driven a car with high steer, please fill me in,

is it much better?
Is it something I should have done?
Is a 2.5" lift enough room for a hi steer? (Apparently needs at least 3"of room or will hit on articulation)

Or am I just being upsold to spend a little more money? Is it worth the money and hassle ?.?.?

Thanks
Simon.

Yeah I always thought a hi steer was 3" plus so not sure if necessary on a 2.5" lift but I have a hi steer on mine and definitely a worth while mod and does handle far superior as brings geometry back or near as to stock with most arms now parallel so it is a worth mod.
Bear in mind however that it is not legal to do so

Thanks heaps for the answer and heads up on legality, forgive me for the silly question but is a high steer conversion difference from the standard suspension setup clearly visible? And will the boys in blue be cluey on this modification? Is it easily noticeable to them/or by them, or do you really need one who knows his stuff, and is very pissed off on a war path to get you for this mod?

Cheers.

Cops most likely would not pick it up, however if you get pinged for lift or tyres etc and need to get it iver the pits then you may have a problem.

That said yoy need 3in bump stops to make sure rhe chassis doesn't hit the high steer bracket so you really want long travel shocks and flexy springs to use a high steer kit on 2.5in lift.

Yes, I believe you would jotife a difference in handling with it.

When I was researching my lift I read the Q&A in the AEV website. Stu "Murchison Products" asked if there was any benefit using the kit on a 2.5 lift & the and the answer from AEV was no.
Might just be relevant to the AEV kit..

You have a 3" kit Simon and the difference is that it makes the panhard and drag link parallel resulting in more responsive steering and less bumpsteer.
