Default To GOBI or not

Im currently tossing up wether to get a GOBI rack or not.
Biggest pro obviously is that it will solve the problem of extra space (especially for fuel which I'm not keen to have in the cabin) and by extension extra range.
Cons-
extra height, with a 3" lift there are going to be a lot of carparks i cant get in.
Wind noise, a concern as i want to run the racks and softop over summer
loss of economy, not too worried about this.

After a fair bit of thought and research i cant see a better alternative for touring/camping.
Any other thoughts, suggestions pros or cons to consider?

If you want to carry extra fuel on the roof isn't the best option, what about a rear bar tyre carrier or a long range tank, also take a look at the Uneek 4X4 rack.

I had a good think about a rear bar or tyre carrier and in reality its a huge outlay to offer a small solution to one problem.
I looked at the teraflex hinged carrier but i'm unlikely to get more than 20L extra and it would be 8-900 all up.
Looked at the AEV bar + fuel caddy...very expensive

Long range tank was another thought, but again, big $$ for solving 1 problem.

The uneek rack looks great and aluminium would be good...but its brand new to market and untested plus there is little $ saving over the Gobi

I picked up a Gobi rack from DBOR and fitted it up myself. Easy fitting, brilliant rack, fantastic quality, and if the height of the rack and impact of it on your fuel economy is a big concern, then pull the rack off when you're not using it. It really is a simple job to remove and reinstall.

Fitting the Gobi also gives you a spot to mount an awning, shovel and some work lights.

Bill will get you sorted at the open day for sure.
