It was top brackets and size of the tubing used for the hoops and as you said - too much leverage. But because I had to go up a size in tube the bottom brackets had to be changed to suit. Hard to see in photos but I was trying to save real estate for things like abs module, computer, windscreen washer bottle etc

Even though now it's a much better design I am going to have dramas fitting these things

That suspension set up is ridiculous.

In a good way ! I like the look of it.

Did you come up with that yourself, or are you working off a plan of sorts?

Thanks

The suspension design itself I probably spent a couple of years reading through old forums to see how different designs work on their projects.

I'm limited on front suspension designs (eg can't have double triangulated front) to keep it road legal. So I talked to the engineer on what designs he would pass, played around with the 4 link (and 3 link) calculator to get an idea where my brackets need to go. Once the real world measurements are finalised I entered it into the calculator again to make sure it will handle nice.

With the shock locations, I just followed manufacturers recommendations on shock position and did what I could to be as close to that as possible while trying to leave room for accessories.

In the end, being an off-road vehicle you have a lot of leeway as long as the chassis and axles are nice and square. It's not a highly tuned F1 suspension design where 20mm here or there in bracket location can win or lose a race.

Downloaded some DXF (lazer cutting files) from a website to make some trailing arms. Had a local lazer cutting place cut them out and had a go at welding them in.

Wish my tig skills were always this steady

They take a while to assemble as there is a lot or internal bracing and a sequence/procedure to weld properly
