It does suck, to cover your own arse I would just not be using the front passenger seat. Not a very practical solution for some unfortunately but the safest.

How many people have been saved by a Taketa airbag????
How many have been killed? 18.
I think I will go with the odds and leave mine connected until a new one becomes available...

I understand & agree, up to a point. The odds are in your favour, but the airbag is a suplementary restraint system, and I have driven cars for decades with no airbags whatsoever with no injuries, even with a couple of shunts in there a couple of decades ago.

As far as I can see, at this point my JK is safer than any of my previous cars even without any airbags, so why take the extra risk? Given that it can turn a minor crash into a fatality for one of my kids... (Teenagers cannot all fit in the back seat.)

geez that video looks like a little anti personnel mine going off, might be more than the front passenger that should be worried.
