Remember the dayco belts are a few mm too long, so with age they can "Burn" and spin on the pulleys are then rotate them, however its the least of your worries now.

How someone put the crank pulley on backwards is a bit of a worry, it sits in the lip and sits up against the timing cover, its clear as day if its backwards.. Sounds like its all sorted now however.

I had a serpentine belt fall to bit on me in under 5,000 km think it was a crown brand. Went to jeep dealer for Genuine mopar in Auckland and they want $100 and four week delivery. Jkconnection in Melbourne had one delivered over night for $25 parts $25 freight.

Go the Gates belts. The very best quality.
Dayco are very good also but I'm a bit surprised about the length issue.
I wouldn't use the Crown belts on my lawn edger.
Ask me about the Crown oil filters.
Of course, if you are not sure, go genuine.

Whats the issue with crown filters.?

Both my front rotors had radial cracking that horrified me a bit but I have trawl thru the forums but it does not seem to be a common issue. Possibly they where not OEM

Fitted dba slotted rotors 20k km ago and they are fabulous

Bought one for my 3.8 for $12 a couple of years ago.
When I went to fit it, I simply didn't like the look of the manufacturing quality so I threw it in the bin. Look at the pressing and seal of the mating face including the galleries.
Shot down to Super Cheap and grabbed a Ryco filter, which is more expensive but still considered a cheap alternative, and fitted that. Looked a lot better.
Later on while kicking back with a beer, curiosity got the better of me and retrieved from the bin and cut it open.
I didn't like the look of the filter media or the way it was mounted. Threw it back in the bin.
I'm not really debating the quality, I just didn't like it or trust it personally.
Getting back on track, I'm pretty sure that Gates also supply the pulleys and so forth for their belts. I would be inclined to believe they would be of a high quality also.
