Default Jeep Wrangler JK Handbrake Recall?

Hi all,

i own a 2013 jeep wrangler JK Manual. As the thousands of threads over the internet will tell you the handbrake in the Jeep wrangler is non existent. However newer models have a upgraded handbrake mechanism to fix this issue. My question is why is there not a recall if Jeep has Acknowledged the issue and rectified it in newer models.

Hahaha that's because no body's wrangler has rolled away and risked killing someone. You should know by now jeep won't do anything until there damn hands are forced too.

That is why i plan on writing a email to the department of infrastructure to maybe push the issue not everyone has the Macgyver skills and time to rip apart there center console to hockey-strap the hand brake. A satisfactory Handbrake is a safety component necessary to meet Australian Standards.

I think if we band together there is no harm in trying. However i must stress i DO NOT! believe MEDIA INVOLVEMENT (NEWS/ DESTROYMYJEEP) is the way to go if nothing does happen,

I just believe this will benefit a large area of Jeepers and while its not costing us anything i cannot see how it will be harmful to the Jeep image or us

You will get tje same response I got when I tried to escalate the no brakes issue.

When scrambling up a slippery hill and getting to the point of giving up, push in the clutch and hit the brakes - oh wait, there are none for the next 5 to 10 seconds until the ABS system recovers..

They did not care despite being able to be replicated on all models.

Fair enough, I am not modding my handbrake either but my reason is if it fails and does hurt someone I dont want to be blamed.

But you are blamed.. Its the way the Australian legal road rules are written,
Simply you have failed to maintain a safe working hand brake...

Saying that I have a 08 with a working hand brake, it will hold the car on a hill, My other Jk's... Not so much

My handbrake holds just as well now as it did when it was new and that is not very well. It holds OK if you fairly ring it's neck but it's certainly a bit ordinary.
I agree there should be some form of formal complaint raised by the community or motoring institution.
Doesn't worry me so much as I have an auto, but a working park brake is still a legal requirement, anywhere.
