When I creep the throttle up slowly it still won't rev over 3000rpm, and the fuel pressure slowly drops off proportional to the revs dropping off.

I'm def thinking fuel delivery problem.

Yes, code P0171...lean condition.

ar ok , I see , then possible that the intake line is restricted , fuel filter , or mesh at the pump regulator , so on ,
still check for errors , (does the scan tool use do this? ) the scan tool I use (MD802) picks a lot of things up including fuel injectors and map , gearbox and even where one plants the butt,
check for any errors , and have a look at the TPS fully , just in case . do you keep a spare one ?
it is a shame that not all scan tools pick up the TPS andp and a few other things.

P0171 (M)

System too Lean (Bank 1)

A lean air/fuel mixture has been indicated by an abnormally rich correction factor.
M stands for check engine light .
where is everyone hoobz ? I might have to break out the cow poke (electric of course)
just a thought have you checked the breather for the tank ?

I cleared the code. It hasn't come back yet, but I don't drive this much, it's just a weekender toy.

I dunz know where everybuddy is

Hey, I'll check the breather situation. Good idea. That I hadn't thought of yet.

The Torque app, obd2 reader, displays throttle position. It's a pretty cool app, $5. I have it on my Galaxy 10.1 tablet. Android. Have you seen the Torque app bleet? There's a thread on it in here somewhere, I'll go find it.

no need , I know the one.
I use a scan tool which pretty much cover most models (not just jeep)
including the wifes alfa , and man if it covers that thing it can just about do anything including making me a drink
the scan tool I use covers the air bag , TCM PCM radio , sensors (all) and including the seats , and air con so on , the only thing it will not do is au ford and au holden .
I have other scan tools as well including CAN , cause ya never know when needed.
and the only time I hate owning them is when its time to update them . Bluetooth is not bad , but it can get issues , (what Bluetooth doesn't) and for ELM and software I got so sick of having the cables stuffed in the draws .

Still here but not much to contribute as NFI

Mine is doing the same, dies out at 3000 ish rpm, 2500rpm going uphill.

I replaced TPS, MAPS, Spark plugs etc and problem still persist, so I gots NFC.

Not too worried as I'm getting Bleet's recon motor in someday when Brett got the love for me and bloody do my engine once and for all. Just called him up this morning, tomorrow..tomorrow he says..At present she's your friendly grocery getter, and borrowing the wife's JK for fun and my Zook Mighty Boy for errands and things. Filled it up $28 6 weeks ago and still going..

Talking

Jeep tech here says it's supposed to stay up at the 50psi mark. Defintiely faulty operation going on.

Fuel delivery most likely the bogging down culprit for sure.

Suggest I do a flow test on the pump, time how long to fill 1 litre.

There are 2,543,768 posts on the net where folks have thrown tps's, crank sensors, cam sensors, etc etc at problems like this and it didn't work

Conversely, there are 2,468,532 posts where it did work

I forgot to mention how great our local Jeep dealership has been whenever I've phoned in about stuff, both tech and spares.

Well, I better say it now.

Spares fella just organised me a new genuine filter regulator for a price I couldn't refuse, even if it's not the part that is faulty.

Usually $250 and up. Secret price is secret, but you'd have to be mad not to grab it just for maintenance reasons. Absolutely stoked.
