Thank you Multihull.
I put the original flash back in the ECM this morning, started immediately and ran smooth.
Put the GDE flash back in and started with rough idle, so the "normal" rough idle on cold start is in fact normal with the GDE tune !
Only taken about 2 years to get this answer. LOL!

So pretty sure that rules out any glow plug issues and also suggests my rough idle at cold start and the occasional fail to start issue are 2 separate things.

Haven't had a recurrence of the "no start" since, so waiting. Bought Torque Pro and waiting delivery an ELM327 dongle to see if I can get any more detail from the systems next time it happens.

Checked the air filter / intake and apart from a spider web and associated detritus at the top of the snorkel all looked good there.
Wondering about a K&N air filter to improve air flow and maybe a finer mesh over the top of the snorkel to keep the bugs out.

Otherwise she's running beautifully - once warm!

Thanks

Good to hear it's worked out. Make sure you do the glow the glow plugs twice on a cold morning and it will make a big difference.
I use the Torque Pro App on my phone via the bluetooth and I also keep a set of printed out hard copy fault codes in the glove box and a full manual on my phone too just in case of a break down way out west. The air filter fault codes only seems to come up after I've given the car flat out accelerator but it then goes away after so many cycles. I do have a K&N air filter. I don't think it makes any difference. This fault may also be another GDE issue of trying to suck too much air with the GDE ECU remap.
