Default Creaky front suspension / steering.

We have headed off for our trip to Uluru and are in Mildura now. I have noticed the front suspension or steering making like creaking sounds at very low speed an when we take off. I have noticed it a couple of time before but now seems to be more often. Any ideas of what it could be, it is a 2002 crd sport stock standard. Is there some known problem or item that wears out, it has done 120k's.

It doesn't sound like a major concern but would like to know what it it could be.

Any ideas appreciated, Thanks

I had a similiar creaking in my front end following the Cape York trip. I eventually traced it to the right front upper control arm, I could feel the creak vibrations when the front suspension was compressed by someone pushing down on the bullbar. It turned out that the bolts holding the upper control arm had worked loose - probably by the terrible corrugations on the Cape Dev Road, and this allowed the rubber bushing to move. Torqued the bolts up again and all was ok, the rear one was loose by about a half a turn. Just a possibility. It could also be the front sway bar bushings, which are easily diagnosed by spraying them with water and then doing a test drive. If the sound goes away after spraying it can indicate the bushing is worn.

Hi Glend.

Thanks for the reply. I took the jeep to tyre place to check it put for me. He said everything looked ok and nothing to worry about right now. He said the bushes are starting to deteriorate and were dry, so he sprayed them and the sound seems to have gone away. He said they will be fine for quite a while, so will add this to the list to tackle next year.

Thanks
Kim.
