Thanks Brit and Classic Boy.

No offence take. I like to take all advice onboard.
I believe it’s done 230,000. Not much really for a diesel.
But, I know it’s getting Long in the tooth.
I am pretty handy on the tools, as I own an XJ with 332,000

Cheers,

Not offending anyone Classic Boy. Everyone on this site knows there was only ever one “real” Jeep, the TJ Wrangler. Even Elvis owned a Wrangler.

I think the AMC derived I6 engine was probably the best motor ever installed in a Jeep, rock solid reliable and long-lived but the 2.7CRD is not a patch on it, and as the 2.7 ages it turns into a money pit just look at the various problem threads on this forum.

The I6 is relatively inexpensive to maintain and easy to maintain, the CRD is not.

If you are determined to by a 15-16 year old car buy a low milage 4.0L petrol powered version they will outlive the CRD by a large margin be almost trouble free, they will get low 11's/100km on long trips.

I think there was a low milage 4.0L WG on carsales for less that half the asking of the one mentioned here. The saving on the purchase price will pay for the fuel usage difference for many years of happy motoring.

Cheers,
Hasn't there been more than few complaints of bearing failure in that engine?

Cheers,
Wonderful Diesel engine, bettered only in my opinion by the Audi 30L TDI.

Cheers,
There’s a big contingent in the States who modify these.
