Smile K&N Air intake system 63-1574#1 to fit JK CRD?

Hi Guys,

I really like the look of the K&N air intake snorkel 63-1574#1(not a fan of the price though), but i own a CRD JK and it appears as they are only built to suit the Penestar engine.

just wondering what is different about the factory air boxes between the petrol and diesel JK's or is it the space in the engine bay that would stop it from fitting?
is there anything that would stop me from modifying one to fit with some creative plumbing? has anyone done this mod before or am i waisting my time thinking about this?

Thanks for the feedback.

With some creative plumbing you might be able to make it work, just ensure you seal all the joints well!

I prefer the AEV style as it gives a more direct air path, so less restriction in airflow. But as it's not for my JK, you should get what you like.

The other thing to consider is: Do they make it for RHD JKs?

The engine bay layout is different for RHD & LHD as the electrics are swapped with the steering/brakes/clutch gear.

Rugged Ridge do a similar style, but I don't know if it will fit RHD either, offhand: http://www.ruggedridge.com/jeep-acce...r-snorkel.html

thanks for the info Banshee,

yeah the AEV setup looks best for performance with a straight line to the airbox and i should probably know better by now than to try and re-invent the wheel.

I checked out the link to rugged ridge snorkel and it's interesting to see their setup uses a similar airbox to the existing one. again they only seem suited to the LHD models so not sure how the spacing would work with the other components.
