Removing the WJ headlights is really a 2 minute job. It de-risks damaging the paint.
My paint really doesn't matter too much anymore, as long as it covers the metal. It's got a lot of forest patina. And every big scratch is tied to a memory of a nice trip

I'm buying alum and hopefully it will do the job for me:

I changed out the power steering hose that runs from the steering box to the fan control unit today. It had started moving a couple of inches when the steering was under load, so I assumed it was close to letting go. The "new" one (from a local wrecker) is better, but still moves. Is this normal?

I also learned a lesson. Down the road after changing the hose, I suddenly lost power steering at a traffic calming island and ended up on the footpath. After checking for leaks, I re-started and all seemed fine until the local roundabout. This time I ended up doing an unplanned extra loop. After that, it all worked perfectly. I've driven about 80km city driving today since.

Make sure you purge all the air from the hydraulic systems after doing any work on them. I got lucky today.

Yeah, you need to burp it, otherwise she foams up and runs nasty

I swapped out my air box (old one had a broken clip) and while I was at it cleaned the MAF with circuit board cleaner. I seem to have solved my on-going over-fueling problem. No more black plumes under heavy (i.e full) throttle. Does cleaning the MAF sound right for that?

I changed all the spark plugs today, man I'd forgotten how tight the drivers back one is, I need smaller hands!
Scored them on eBay for 24 bucks for the 8, Platinum, hopefully this will help my shocking fuel economy of late

New tyres. Fallen Wildtrak AT3W, 245/70R17. I'm going wheeling with friends on Saturday to try them out.

Good preparation for Jambo there next year.

I’m very much hoping to go there, am getting the WJ ready and I have submitted my leave bids for it.
