Default where to?

So it's my family's first camping trip together (wife and 2 yr old son) plus hopefully some 4wding.

This missus isn't to keen on 4wding as she expects that we will break something and it will be expensive.

Anyhow which place, and best way to ease her into 4wding?

I would head up to some where lime Landcruiser Park. Camping with facilities and plenty of tracks with a map supplied varying from very easy to very hard with plenty of oeople around should you get stuck. I am sure there are plenty of other places around but thats the only one I have been to. Going up again end of April again for a few days.

Fraser Island, if that place doesn't impress the wife give up.
Just drop the tyre pressures down (right down) & keep out of the way of the tour buses (their crazy)

I had never driven on sand before I went but with all the help & advice from everyone here it turned out brilliant.

Take her up to O'Reilly's via Duck Creek Rd. Nothing extreme. Good for a day trip from the Goldie.

Yeah agree on duck creek rd and camp up at oreillys, go for a rainforest walk, etc. Nice and close to gold coast for you.

Otherwise could head out boonah/Warwick way, few good spots out there apparentely, but I think oreillys may be more scenic for first time depending on what you like.

There's city view 4x4 park in beaudesert too which is alright and like landcruiser park has a map of graded tracks.

Thats for that guys.

I think land cruiser park might be out, as it is more for just 4wding, O'reilys seems like it could be the go, but we want to go for at least two nights, so it may get a little 'old' real quick with the 2 yr old, but I don't know.

I think rainbow beach is the winner, we can day trip to Fraser from there one day, as its the first time, we dont want to be spending extra money on the ferry should we have forgotten something.

Ok, well I have a WJ, currently 2inch lift, Quadra-Drive for vehicle.

Tent
esky
cooker
lights
sleeping acc.
Cooking stuff
Water containers
Tarp, poles guylines etc
Chairs
Tire repair kit
Snatch Strap
Table
Fishing gear

Anything else major we should pack?

What about involving yourself in Camp Coffs this year? Good family fun.
