Depends. While the KK will be able to take you pretty much anywhere you want to go, with both stock the LR3 might be a teensy bit more capable, especially for a newbie thanks to all the whizzy electronics and, if you get the air suspension model, the ability to muck around with ride height. It is also a really nice place to be, with all the comfort you could want.

But then there is also more to go wrong. And even a second hand LR3 is a costly beast, both to buy, run and service. You'll be able to use the money you're saving by buying the KK on mods to make it really good.
