I've got the old fashioned usb OBD2 dongle. I've been using it with my pc for sometime. I now found an app the uses the usb connection for my android tablet. It's a great little app, very customisable.
Hacking the obd gives you access to things that off the shelf software doesn't. For example, change the cruise control buttons to adjust the volume on the android tablet. Not that I would do this. I like my cruise control. But you get the idea.

JJ what brand dongle do you use? Looking on fleabay theres a few but they are more than likely nasty chinese stuff, if they work though im happy to give one a go especially based on price.

I just bought a cheap elm327 of ebay. It came with free windows software that has basic functionality. Read codes, reset them, live data.

I'm a bit late here, but I would guess J1850 VPW, or maybe 9141-2.

My KJ uses J1850 VPW.
