Default Chrome grill restore?

Hi,

I scratched the phucker out of this to paint it many years ago and many times. Just wondering with this sort of scratch, is there a way to restore this chrome if i decide to put it back like stock? Finer grit paper you think???

Kinda liking the chrome again.

autosol polish and a buffer don't put sand paper anywhere near it unless you want to paint it. If that doesn't work time to rechrome

It looks like it's started to flake though?

Hasnt flaked. But I did scraped the existing paint off it and sand papered it off using grit 180. What you see is probably left over primer/paint.

If you've used sandpaper it's unlikely to buff up well enough with polishing. Dipping, painting or wrapping are probably the best options.

It looks like you should try one of southern comforts advise.

If your going to repaint it you would want a lot finer than 180 I would step it from 400 to 600 800 then 1000 or 1200 grit for a decent finish..

We got a knockoff chrome grill for our np300 from eBay after a bird strike and it has held up fine.

Would be cheaper than all that work

Dont you want the course grit so the primer bonds? Ive had paint and primer fall/peel of it many times so easily. That is why I am redoing the lot again...
