Default 8.25 or Dana 44 wanted

Hi Jeepers,

Like the title says, anybody got an 8.25 or a Dana 44 to suit an XJ?
I’m in Maitland NSW.

Let me know what you’ve got?

Yes I know there’s a wanted section, this question has been asked before without replies so hoping I’ll get a response here.

Cheers Danny

Did Chrysler ever ship chekkas with d44 in Oz?

A single aftermarket crate assembly is worth more than the car usd 3,500 (with locker) before shipping. I am showing my ignorance, but can a d44 from a Wrangler be modded to fit on an XJ?

Good luck with your search.

No, Australia didn’t get XJ’s with factory Dana 44’s. A TJ Dana 44 is the same width etc so just need old brackets removed, spring perched welded on, gearing etc and your done.
Considering the price of used TJ dana 44’s I’ll probably settle on a explorer 8.8 if I can’t find an 8.25 for an ok price.

Is there any way that the rear d35 can be strengthened through the addition of say, new axle shafts and a different carrier within the diff housing? Surely there is something aftermarket out there....

The d44 axle is the same thickness as the d35, right?

the Tj d44 has the same size axle tubes as the d35.
Did you try poly 4x4 in Melbourne?
