Default 2017 Commander ???

I have just searched for Jeep Commander and found several articles mentioning a restart of production of this car in 2017 with the exterior largely remaining unchanged. There is a 3.7L engine option. No word yet on pricing....

Some of these articles are written in an incoherent way and are dated from April - August this year. They even went as far to claim that this car was present at the NY Auto Show.

Is this for real? There is no mention on Allpar.com. There is no mention of it on Jeep.com, even though they are flogging 2017 GCs on it.

I thought FIAT was intent on butchering this assembly line. Why would they reintroduce this car virtually unchanged when it currently has no shared platform?

It is intriguing if it is true...

I've always thought that Jeep should have built a new Commander based on the Dodge Durango... It's a 7 seater version of the WK2, same everything underneath just stretched in the middle and behind the rear axle. If Dodge could do it with the WK2 then why couldn't Jeep do it..

No, it is not the Grand Wagoneer... It is apparently a 2017 Jeep Commander waking up 7 years later from a coma. Wasn't the Durango intended to replace the Commander in the 7 seater FC lineup?

The links below must be some April fools joke or maybe someone has too much time on their hands. There is nothing official from FC about an upcoming Commander, sadly. Also, Marchionne is intent on supplying bubble style cars to the market rather than the boxy ones that the Commander represented. It is a worldwide trend if you look at what LR has done with the Disco, and how they have completely done away with the Defender.

It was Marchione that allegedly said that the Commander was "unfit for human consumption". Maybe this will change when Marchionne's tenure is finished in 2018?

I was looking for this kind of information on the cars. Thanks, this thread cleared my doubts.
