Hi Marco,
i had this happen to me twice after 4wdriving in a lot of mud and also in soft sand.i disconnected the battery for around 20 min back at our camp site and on reconnect the message didnt come back on and the second time i went for a wildish drive on gravel with the traction control turned off (a bit of wheel spin ) on the way home and it corrected itself. I would try the battery disconnect at least since its not going to hurt just go for a short drive for the computer to do its thing.

Thanks guys, tried the battery disconnect overnight with no effect so I'll be speaking to Jeep Assist today.

Yep I'd definately be getting it towed, Marco. When it comes to something like that (the 4wd system) I don't think you can be too carefull.Obviously something is/has failed if the battery trick did not work.It usually means it's a permanent fault.Hopefully for you it's just a simple sensor replacement

please let us know what the outcome is , most of the time @ 90% its simply a sensor or electronic thing. i was told the traction control sensor inputs can cause the computer to get confused when one of them gives a dodgy input and then it spits the error if it continues to happen. i remember now that briefly my wheels were locking up and unloading all wrong the second time it happened to me mind you we were having a lot of 4wd fun.

Update: car was trucked to Irelands on Monday, fault was diagnosed as a faulty solenoid inside the front diff so the diff was locked which screwed up the 4WD system. They also discovered a faulty ABS speed sensor on one of the rear wheels. All fixed under warranty and we now have the car back.
