here is a link to a good comparison the stock fender clearance on the factory 17x7.5 with 255/75R17 I measured at 21mm. I don't use the scrub radius and suspension clearance functions

Thanks. That's a cool calculator that I'll have a play around with. It does have a flaw though. It's not factoring into account how the rim width changes section width. 1/2 inch wider rim is going to increase section width by 2/10 of an inch (approx 5mm) which adds to how far the tire sticks out. Only a small amount, I know, but if you were comparing rims two inches different in width, it adds up.

Yeah I wasn't using it for inside clearances just using offset and tyre size too get an idea of how far my 285s would come out, which I found to be pretty accurate for.
Unfortunately tyres are also not exactly what they claim to be in size as well and you get differencea of up to 1/2 an inch between different manufacturers tyres of the same nominal size so you can't tell exactly until you actually mount that particular tyre and measure it

About half way down on this thread there is a pic of one with external rubber extenders so you can see what they look like.

I have zero offset 17x8" wheels and 33" tyres....the tyres just stuck out of the fenders. I bought some fender flare extensions off ebay and fitted them up....took a couple of hours to do, they're solid and look OK to me. Of the two sizes on ebay, these were the wider ones....70mm, I think

Same idea as LeighP - may be the same product in fact. Got a set off eBay to cover the tires as they just stuck out by a few mm. Grabbed some screws and maybe an hour later they were trimmed and good to go. And the extra I use to cover the wiring for Christmas lights so I don't trip on them every. damn. morning.
