Default JK diff cover

Where would I find what rear diff my 2015 MY16 is running?

Do I need to upgrade the diff cover? If so how do I know which one to buy and also does anyone hve any recommendations?

The Dana 44 is the standard rear diff on JKs.

A Dana 30 is at the front, but Rubicon JKs will have Dana 44s in the front and rear.

I fitted genuine ARB diff covers on mine and I was impressed with them. Check out online Australian stores like

SBR Off Road,
Murchison Products
Jeep Konnection

They might have something you'd prefer over the ARB covers.

The OEM covers are quite thin and can dent easily but to be honest, unless you are going rock crawling, the standard covers will do fine for the beach and everyday 4W Driving.

I think maybe you might need some more time getting general jeep knowledge. Its not a silly question, but it is also a question that is easily to find an answer to.

Why would you need a new diff cover?

Also, a simple search in google " Australian Jeep accessories"

I didn't worry about the rear cover....you aren't that likely to back into something....more likely to catch the cover edge on a rock and peel it back causing an oil leak.
I fitted a Rough Country rear differential skid plate which is, I think, more useful on the back. I have a heavy duty cover on the front diff.
