Default 360 EFI conversion

I just purchased a 1989 Wagoner. & I have 95% committed myself to doing a EFI conversion to keep its drivability and reliability. has anyone else done one ? 360 AMC engine ?

Never done one but I’ve heard the Sniper kit is the only one with good feedback. Can’t imagine it will be a cheap exercise ! That being said, EFI beats carby every time.

yea.from talking to a few people. its going to cost 5 - 7grand.thats the conversion. so if you had to do any other engine work ie cooling system , general tune or even camshaft it could creep up there price wise.

Yes, have to decide how deep to go financially otherwise just give it a good tune up and tune the carb best as possible. You rarely see these types of items from wreckers or secondhand.

I considered a MSD EFI Kit for my small block dodge charger and in my opinion it was a poor return on the proposed investment. The reasons for me was the cost of the kit and the work required compared to the expected usage of the car just didn’t add up.
If I drove it regularly it maybe worth considering but using a good carby like a thermoquad or edelbrock AVS2 it runs like a bandit and is reliable.

If you are determined to go the aftermarket EFI route have a look at a few different ytube vids as some aftermarket systems are not that reliable and many Dyno tests reveal disappointing results.

Hi
I have a 83 360. You have a very rare vehicle do not change much as it is going up, do not change much as it is increasing in value as stock. I have a factory 4 barrel manifold I obtained, it is a factory one with egr that the book says does not exist. I will put a 4 barrel on it but I have lpg as I have too reco the engine after I popped a piston. After I fit the Hemi, and jag for the Missus, but do not change things that can not be reinstalled. The 2 barrel is a little small but set up right is good on petrol though many say not.
Pics at some stage would be nice.

thanks for everyone's input.I am meeting with a guy next week that is very knowledgeable on V8s and has done several EFI conversions. I totally agree about not modifying the vehicle.but in the same sentence want to keep it reliable and keep the original engine in good health.so personally feel it would be a move in the rite direction
