Apparently I'm looking at a total rebuild, pump & torque converter now completely useless...

Yerr I have been quoted that as well and this bloke is suppose to be pretty cheap. Sadly I dare say my Jeep has done its last 4 wheeling. No way I am spending 3.5k on my XJ, when I would be pushing to sell it for 2.5k.

Regards A

I was thinking the same Anthony (value of vehicle vs. repairs) but decided to look at it from a different perspective, what could you buy with that money that could compete with the XJ Cherokee in performance?

Personally I would prefer a manual gearbox but the AW4 does a pretty good job, after market transmission coolers seem like a greater investment more than ever and auxiliary temp sensors as well...

yeah i cant even see the point in looking at resale value of an xj , buy a spare xj for the cost of rebuild and score lots of spare parts . no warranty on 200k old autos though .

Kinda have to agree.
An XJ is rapidly not "worth the money" if you compare what you're about to invest in it versus what it might make when you sell it. However, indeed, what is the alternative?
The point of no return (when you have put as much into repairs as you paid for the whole vehicle when you bought it) is easily reached.
I'm sure one day I will come to that same point, when a more costly repair is on the cards, but when I see and drive that XJ, I know its the only car I would ever consider paying a costly repair for.

Default You all know this

Its AN XJ JEEP thing!
We just luv our XJ's Yes they are now worth peanuts, but they are just so good off road.
I have a 2001 Turbo Diesel & its got all the good gear, & I just LUV it off road. Being a manual too is a real bonus for me. It just keeps crawling up & down.

Its AN XJ JEEP thing!

Cheers

Eddy
