Default Byuing a welder

So I am looking to spend some of my tool grants before end of financial year. Pretty much have all the tools I need that relate to my trade so I might as well start kitting out my 'future' shed.

Looking at buying a welder and While I dont have a huge amount of experience I want a unit that will do as much as possible along with me as my skills improve. So after a lot of research I am leaning towards this one - http://www.cigweld.com.au/product/mi...ig-175i-plant/

It does arc mig and tig. I Can pick the kit up with gas reg, hoses, bag and accessories and also a tig connection as a free bonus for $1000 plus postage on ebay with 3 year warranty. Havent hit up BOC yet to see what they will do for me.

Does anyone have experience with this unit, do u think it will serve me well?
Any feedback would be appreciated. Cheers

Can't say I know a huge amount about welders as I am pretty much useless at it. However my mate who is, reckons about 1k gets a decent piece of kit. I think his is CIG one, gas mig. It has a really high amps and it welds shit hot, really neat even with 8mm flat.

Regards A

Cheers murray, yeah i looked at an ac tig but they were a bit out of my price range and couldnt do mig or arc so if i really need to do ally i will just have to try to mig it.

IMHO I'd rather spend the coin on a good mig than on a multi machine.
I have arc & oxy setups, but they hardly get touched compared to my mig.

Cheers fo the responses guys. Yeah I ordered that one from ebay. 3 year Aus wide warranty so thats not bad. I probably wont use stick much but MIG & TIG welding interests me so I may do a bit of that. I will do a bit of a review once it turns up
I also have a full oxy set in my work car as all I do for work is silver solder copper. (refrig aircon mechanic) so Thats not a problem
