Why is it hard to Start when Cold

The day the fuel pump is fitted took ages to start today I left sit for 4 days ran it down low of fuel got it down the mechanics left it running all good come back at 1 ... came back new fuel pump testing in a bucket of fuel runs but wont suck and gets hot .....oh great! gotta do a ebay return get refund get new pump and on and on
ok put the old pump in and put the fresh filter on it I will be back in a hour ............. meantime started a ebay return ready to cry into my beer this afternoon ... went back fixed! new pump fine??.........
someone forgot to remove the clear plastic plug from the filter bag ..... really fixed home removed my refund claim lets see the bill I not pay for your mistakes $$

Next day back to square 1.................
so its not the check valve in the new bosch fuel pump!
is it the Crown 53030001 fuel pressure regulator another $100.. but it does not have the running symptoms of a bad regulator ? the check engine still flickers when cold for a bit then comes on solid and then goes off like normal pre start I will unwind the tape and check my connections to the throttle body sensors where I repaired the the wires perhaps disturbed when pulled back when I had the head done last yr about the same time this all started will investigate on Saturday

I had a long crank issue in my TJ about 18 years ago. I replaced only the fuel filter/regulator that sits on top of the tank, and it's been fine ever since. I never had any running issues, just the long crank.

no start today drained the battery I checked the fuel pressure new pump runs up to 52 psi then when you turn the key off it falls fast down to 8 psi has to be the regulator and there none in OZ so now I wait 3 weeks for rockauto

The Postman always Knocks Twice..........guess what I got in the mail Friday...... a fuel pressure regulator part number 53030001..... now to get it fitted on monday I have charged up a second battery I will jump my charged jeep battery as I think it will take some starting after 2 weeks the fuel lines will be empty

Alright I was hoping to say fixed thread closed tonight ....
OK New fuel Pump and now the Fuel Pressure regulator has been replaced ....... took a few cranks when I picked up drove to the shop 500 meter stopped for 10 mins had to turn the key off and on a few times 2nd crank start came home turned it off did a re start after 30 secs boom first crank ....... will see how we go in the morning the dog needs to get out and chase roos missus has been walking him but that is not enough and I want to fly my drone and film a roo chase back to the bush tomorrow..... Beer Now

Ok I have fuel pressure but it must be electrical I still have to go through the same routine to start Cold or Hot?
Only when cold does the check engine light flash on and off 10 times or more next try flashes slower next try might act normal then beep off and on a few times then try and crank once running perfect?
must be a short somewhere or a bad ground I checked all my connections all good there
mystery ??
at least its a good anti theft device
