Check out my Ride(s)
Default 4WD full time ?

I have recently been leaving my KK LTD in 4 wheel Auto when driving on the road.
I like the way the jeep feels and handles better this way . The fuel economy seems about the same as it is in 2wd.

Anybody else doing this?

I keep forgetting to leave it in auto 4x4. But when I do put it there the rear end nolonger 'skips' on bouncy corners. I 'feels' safer in the auto 4x4. The experts on this forum can explain why better than I can.
However being a tight a... I do notice a higher mpg with it in auto 4x4.

regards

I personally just leave it in 2WD on dry roads as I've never really noticed any issues with it or improvements when compared against 4WDAuto. If it's been pouring down I'll occasionally flick it on though just to be "safer".

Here's a good video that explains how our 4WD Systems work in the KK.

Its giving drivers the option to use 4WD in any situation (as in a constant 4WD option) so use it as you feel fit. the KK has made it simple compared to early model Jeeps.

The previous model KJ used... "part time 4wd hi" (locked centre on the transfer case), "full time 4wd hi" (open centre on the transfer case) then "low range" (again locked centre on transfer case).

On my KJ when wet I often use the "full time 4WD hi" (thats the KKs auto 4WD mode). In many ways constant 4WDrives such as Land Rovers do have some simplicity to them.

Regards
Daz

4wd low is my problem. I can never seem to get into it. The other day, I had 6 attempts at it and gave up. Then other times it seems to work. I am not sure if it's a heat thing or user error.

Are you putting it to neutral first flashy? I'd also suggest pulling up on at least a slight gradient so you can gradually release the brake to assist the transfer case to engage. I do this if it's having trouble engaging on its own but that's rare.
