Thumbs up 3.0 CRD Turbo Boost Control

I may have just dodged a bullet.

Living semi rural and getting the "ahh, we can fit you in 7 weeks from now" From Jeep I then dropped by Gattons only 4WD specialty mods store, Pro Fit.

Desperation, really as I was getting repeat Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) alarms along with the engine fault light and limp mode. I have learned that many repairers do not even have a good enough OBD2 reader to even read Jeep codes.

I was very impressed/amazed when they fixed it.

Their account read: "Fault Codes on dash - P0046 Turbo Boost Control - P0234 Turbo Overboost. Checked Boost Actuator Module/ Found broken wires internally / Repaired.
If problem re-appears might need new Boost Actuator $9664.00."
Repair $322.00.

This thread is to share an issue with my WH 3.0 CRD, and maybe receive some feedback. Imagine what Toowoomba Jeep would have said and done. Apparently, the Boost actuator is part of the turbo and cannot be purchased separately.

The fault only occurred at full temperature and under load - like hauling up a long uphill. I could drive around town, and did so for weeks, without any issues. However, warmed up and climbing a long hill, the motor would miss once or twice, the ETC light would illuminate, and the Jeep would go into limp mode.

You can buy an after market turbo actuator from Aliexpress in China .
Member of this site " alexbrown64 " bought one and reported that they work .
There are videos on YouTube showing how to repair the broken wires inside the actuator .
The turbo variable vanes are also known to gunk up with soot and require cleaning .

Thank you. Great advice.

I found the actuator part on eBay for $116 incl. Well worth having one on hand just in case - so I ordered one.

No worries if it does go wrong again.

Had the same problem with my old WH. I found a place in Qld that specialises in repairs to MB components and sent the actuator to them. They fixed ita sent it back in a few days. From memory about $300-400
