Default JL Towing Limit.

I read an review of the JL the other day and was astounded to read that the max towing mass for the 4 door is less than 1600kg. Is this correct or was it a misprint? If this is correct it would stop me from ever updating from my JKU.

Regards.

The US tow ratings vary from the Australian ratings on quite a few models including the JKU.

I'dd say this is mainly a corporate decision where they weigh up market desire vs incrouchment on other models with a slightly higher per unit profit that they are trying to flog. Capability, waranty and various state regulations may come into it a little.

Don't believe everything you read in the articles even the Australian ones are becoming predominantly regurgitated crap.

Will just have to wait and see what the export vehicle is rated at but I would think it would be on par with the current model.

Plus the Americans tend to offer “tow packs” as an option, which include extra tranny cooling and hence gives the vehicle a higher max tow rating. Jeep oz tends to spec their vehicles with the tow pack as standard (this is the case with the KL - the tow pack more than doubles the rated weight in the US). As Rick said, I’d wait and see what the oz spec is.
