I like my CRD, but find it a dog getting it off the line and nowhere near my old stock 4.7 WJ in terms of acceleration let alone keeping up with an SRT, sorry....tune or no tune. If you want real performance and a real note...get a V8 IMO.

I’ve been told with a $990 tune, I should have around 220-230rwkw. With a cam and exhaust add another 50rwkw which would take it to similar rear wheel kws and torque levels of the 6.4l SRT.

Thx,

Ben
Hi Ben,

The figures are flywheel figures based on percentage differences from stock dyno figures.
Actual KW at the wheels is 175.5 Kw.

My total cost was around $3K.

Not bad considering the gains!

Cheers, Craig

Hi Troutman,

It’s funny you say that about off the line being a bit of a dog. We found that too... if we didn’t stall the engine against the brake before take off then turbo lag was massive, it actually added .7 secs to get to 100kph (8.2secs).

I’m not sure how the V6 diesel sounds with work so I have to take peoples word but there is no mistaking the sound of a V8.

As for the SRT, they can get to 100kph in around 5 flat so they are next level and proper fast!

Ahh ok, either way, impressive power gains for the cost.

Would be really interested to see how much quicker it is than stock. If you ever get the chance, time it, even if just rough.

Good on you mate,

Ben

Just thought I'd add something.

A V8 turbo diesel 200 series Landcruiser puts out 140Kw at the wheels.
Mine puts out 175.5Kw.

Cheers, Craig

Yes but to be honest, they are slugs. Very big and heavy truck.

To 100kph takes 8.5 - 9 seconds.

I've driven hundreds of wk2's(i started Uneek 4x4) and a lot of them modified ones from Murchisons, Roo systems and Horsepower factory, and none of them can keep up with a stock 5.7, let alone an SRT.

My 4.7 HO WJ is quicker than the 3.0lt wk2 (just barely) and my 5.7 wk2 is quicker again.

The diesel is great as they are fast and use bugger all fuel, but no matter how much you spend on them, they still can't beat the hemi off the line.

Diesel is surely the pick of the bunch, but I just love the V8 rumble (can't be achieved with the 3.0lt)
