I could liken the noise to the fan bearings needing lubrication but I’m not entirely sure if this is the problem. I’ve pulled the cabin filter out and spun the fan and it won’t make the sound. I’ve run the fan with the filter out with my head stuck in the glove box space, no noise. But when I put it all back together and go for a drive, sound comes back. Not straight away, but after several minutes it’s back. But only if the fan is on. If I turn it off, it goes away. Wracking my brain.
Second noise is from the boot. Only happens on sharp jarring bumps. Upon first thoughts it was the jack assembly that sits in the spare tyre. I’ve removed it and it still does it. I’ve wrapped a towel around it and suppressed it with linen and it still does it. I’ve pulled the trim out from all around the spare, can’t find anything loose. Second to putting my son in the boot(which I won’t do) and going for a drive, I’m stumped. The boot lid itself seems firm but can’t quite tell. I’ve crawled around underneath and nothing seems loose…
Heeeelllllllllllpppppp. The radio stations here are crap so I can’t turn the radio up.

Re whistling ,could be the hvac motor ,been happening frm 2011 on dealers well aware of this problem.,also check filter has been inserted correctly or put a new one in as you say noise goes when filter removed.
Re knocking,Is it a knocking noise.?The top rear shock mounts are well known area for this noise. Mine would only knock over certain bumps.Replaced them a couple of
months ago ,noise gone.Easy job to do .half hour each side .Plenty of youtube info Got new mounts from RockAuto in the US.
Acouple of tips if removing shocks. Only remove rear plastic plugs on the plastic inner guard ,it can be bent to reach two top mount bolts. You will need a cheap spark plug tube spanner to remove top shock nut which is inside the top mount
