FT,

Not sure if it fits into the 'major' category but what about going glass for the body panels too ?

They're not real curvy and should be pretty easy for a good bodywork dude to knock up. Then you can sell the molds to other scumbag comp Jeepers too to recoup costs

+got plastic fuel cell ? 15 L (15kg) vs 60L (60kg)

I'd be losing the rear winch too. Didn't think rockcrawlers ran winches anyway ?(other than front diff squeezers for big climbs) Lose em both...If u must run front and rear why not use a hitch/chain mounted number ? eg brawn/warn cradle

Attack those tupperware seats with a hole saw. Few nice holes in strategic places will work wonders.

btw if u still need mirrors run $1 adhesive convex jobs from supercheap on your front cage legs - they're surprisingly effective.

Shifter knobs are overrated - pizz em off & wrap thread with race tape

Pull heater hoses and run a short hose between the two heater ports on the block to bypass the heater.

Got a good radiator ? rack the radiator fan off (pick up a few hp too!) as u prob won't be running long enough to heat up or if u already run a thermo.

run a gondwana-style exhaust up high to the cage. Less length - less weight and no rock rash. Just tell Zach to mind his little girl hands :P

Go the ultralight Firetruck !!

Ditch those tubby IT guys and teach a couple of Biafran waifs to drive?
Swiss cheese the body?
Fill tyres with Helium?
Light weight water in cooling system?
Empty the fuel tank?
Drop the iron 6cyl and put in a 4cyl alloy block?
Hope this helps.....

yea baby... keep the ideas coming!!

Replies:
Already have the plastic tank covered with Aluminium rather than steel, never fill it more than 30L, and don't want to drop the $$ on fuel cell right now.
Fiberglass panels... would just get totally trashed, Hood is somewhat protected by sides will get crunched.
Run 2 winches to winch down the axels on climbs/descents and off camber... not used for recovery! Very common on rockcrawlers.
Heater and fan... barely work anyway so I guess they can go... most of the vent tubing is already gone to make room for the cage.
Air con... what the heck is that?? Never had it on my TJ.
Jack and wheelbrace loooong gone.
Ashtray - gone
Glovebox... still there - guess this can go...
Horn - gone (had to cable tie it back on for TTC)
Snorkel - it's going...
Helium in the tires??? Sprung weight reduction, not unsprung! Will be putting some water in the tires to increase unsprung weight as low as possible.
Stereo - doesn't work anymore, so yep this can come out.

Big heavy IT spotter... built for shifting rocks, won't be in the JP.

S.

Alloy Radiator,
Alloy Valve cover,
Mean green or similar small er & lighter starter & alternator,
How about lightening the flywheel?
Ditch viscous fan for a fix flex fan.

I have a nice lightweight, high clearance D30 that I am willing to swap for your heavy D60 whatever you have now.
