There are two statues in a park; one of a nude man and one of a nude
woman. They had been facing each other across a pathway for a hundred
years, when one day an angel comes down from the sky and, with a
single gesture, brings the two to life!!!!!!!!
The angel tells them, 'As a reward for being so patient through a
hundred blazing summers and dismal winters, you have been given life
for thirty minutes to do what you've wished to do the most.'

He looks at her, she looks at him, and they go running behind the
shrubbery. The angel waits patiently as the bushes rustle and giggling
ensues. After fifteen minutes, the two return, out of breath and
laughing. The angel tells them, 'Um, you have fifteen minutes left,
would you care to do it again?'

He asks her 'Shall we?'

She eagerly replies, 'Oh, yes, let's! But let's change positions....

This time, I'll hold the pigeon down and you shit on its head.'

AND WHAT WERE YOU THINKING ????

Real climate science

Ian Plimer

The Global Warming Policy Foundation has just published The state of the climate 2023 by Ole Humlum. It is a compilation of measurements and is not reliant upon numerical models. So, dear reader, I have consumed a couple of good reds doing the 70 pages of reading for you to save you the trouble and to stop you worrying about climate boiling.

It is a more comprehensive report than NOAA’s State of the Climate Report because NOAA’s politicised report ignores atmospheric temperature trends. It has been well established by Jennifer Marohasy and others that the land temperature measurements are doctored and therefore unreliable. Humlum uses the far more reliable University of Alabama in Huntsville and Remote Sensing Systems atmospheric trends derived from satellite temperature 3D measurements of the atmosphere. Compared to NOAA, Humlum’s report shows the vast number of natural variations and trends in troposphere temperature, ocean temperature, the Southern Oscillation Index, the Pacific Decadal Oscillation, the Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation, sea level, sea ice, snow cover and storm and hurricane energy. These variations are normally ignored by climate ‘science’ catastrophists.

Here are a few take-aways:

a) The measured global average temperature change over the last 40 years is about 0.18 degrees Celsius per decade. This does not sound like a scary climate emergency to me. Humlum notes that a proportion of the temperature increase is reported to be due to ‘administrative changes’! Life can easily adapt to a change of 0.18 degrees C per decade.

b) Humlum warns against overstating short-term warming or cooling and notes that the past does not change but the temperature record is continually changed, that the record differs and is not of equal scientific quality.

c) Global warming since 1980 has predominantly been a northern hemisphere phenomenon with step changes from 1994 to 1999, influenced by the Mount Pinatubo volcanic eruption of 1992-1993 producing cooling and the 1997 El Niño event producing warming, and the 2015-16 El Niño warming. Such step changes cannot be explained by a gradual increase in atmospheric CO2.

d) Warm years are when ocean heat is released to the atmosphere during El Niño events such as 2016 and 2023 whereas 2021 and 2022 were cooler due to the cold La Niña event in the Pacific Ocean. In 2023, the global average of air temperature was very high relative to an instrumental record since 1850. Since 1950, El Niño-La Niña events have been on 3.6-year and possibly 5.6-year cycles.

e) Since 1979, lower troposphere temperatures have increased, most clearly over the land, probably due to changes in cloud cover and land use.

f) Data for the Pacific Decadal Oscillation (PDO) extends back to 1854. It is in phase with global temperature changes and is tied to sea surface temperature in the planet’s largest ocean. When the PDO is negative (i.e. sea surface temperature is relatively cool), global air temperature decreases. This happened from 1945 to 1977. There was a positive PDO from 1977 to 1998 when sea surface temperature was relatively warm. The changes in the PDO are unrelated to atmospheric CO2.

g) The Atlantic multidecadal oscillation (AMO) is an index of North Atlantic sea surface temperature and correlates with air temperature and rainfall over much of the northern hemisphere. It is reflected in the frequency of severe Atlantic hurricanes. Two of the most severe droughts in the US (1930s, 1950s) occurred during a time of peak AMO values. The AMO is influenced by a 70-year-long cycle.

h) Tide gauge measurements of 1 to 2 mm per year do not indicate any acceleration or deceleration of sea level change. The tide gauges give an average sea level rise lower than the satellite sea level rise (3 to 4 mm per year). Humlum states that there is no explanation for this difference in data sets. There has been no accelerated sea level rise as atmospheric CO2 has risen.

i) Possible sea level changes must be considered in the light of land level rises and falls measured at 2 mm per year. This has a profound effect on coastal planning but is ignored by local authorities. According to the IPCC, modelled sea level at Oslo should rise by 17.5 cm by 2100 but the measurements since 1914 show that it has dropped by 27 cm.

j) Sea ice extent is stable or possibly even rising.

k) Both northern and southern hemisphere snow cover is more or less stable since the onset of satellite observations.

l) Global precipitation was high in 1956, 1973 and 2010 and low in 1941, 1965, 1987 and 1992. The global precipitation anomaly is influenced by 3.6- and 5.6-year cycles, similar to the cycles for the Southern and Pacific Decadal Oscillations.

m) Global tropical storm and hurricane energy is within the range measured since 1970. Oscillations of 6.5- and 11.5-years-duration were noted and, in the Atlantic Basin, natural rhythms of 61.5 years duration and possible 5.6 years were measured. In the US, hurricane landfalls are within the range of observation since 1851.

n) Tropospheric CO2 shows an annual increase on 1 part per million per year since infra-red measurements began in 1958. Humlum does not mention that these measurements are not in accord with the variability of earlier chemical measurements. The 12-month change of tropospheric CO2 has a periodic variation of 3.6-year duration not seen in smoothed data. There is no perceptible effect on atmospheric CO2 due to the Covid-related drop in CO2 emissions in 2020-21 showing that natural processes far outweigh human emissions. This suggests any future reductions in the use of fossil fuels are unlikely to have any effect of the amount of atmospheric CO2.

Concurrent with the release of Humlum’s report was the release of the Wyoming Climate Report by the CO2 Coalition. Wyoming is the largest coal-producing state in the US with over 40 per cent of US production in 2022. Wyoming is pushing to ‘carbon capture’ to achieve ‘net zero’ based on the erroneous assumption that increasing CO2 in the atmosphere will harm the environment and people in Wyoming. Surely the Cowboy State knows that an increased atmospheric CO2 and a slight warming is good for the environment and Wyoming’s citizens. Whatever the good burghers of Wyoming do, it will not change Chinese and Indian emissions. The Wyoming Climate Report showed that:

Current CO2 levels are at or near historically low concentrations.
Doctoring of historical temperature records have artificially amplified current warming. Temperature has increased by 0.7 degrees C since 1895, heatwaves peaked in the 1930s and have been in slight decline since then and night temperature has increased thereby lengthening the growing season.
Rainfall, although variable year-to-year, has not been decreasing, droughts have not increased and severe weather and natural disasters are declining.
Agricultural production and vegetation have increased.
An Appendix to the Wyoming report states that future temperature estimates are significantly over exaggerated because of the urban heat island effect, doctoring of the historical temperature record and fabricated data for stations that no longer exist or are no longer reporting.

You have a far greater chance of dying before your time from socialist stupidity than climate change.

‘I need a solution fast’: Electric car owners complain of motion sickness
Here's why electric cars might make you more carsick than conventional vehicles – and some strategies you can use to fix it.

Zane Dobie

‘I need a solution fast’: Electric car owners complain of motion sickness

With it beginning to look like an electric-only future, you might soon find yourself in an electric vehicle, wondering why you're feeling much more carsick than when riding in an internal combustion car (ICE).

RELATED: How to reduce motion sickness in kids

It's slowly become one of the most popular questions on Reddit in the EV and Tesla threads: "Why do electric cars make me feel sick?". One user even said they questioned buying a Tesla Model Y because of it.

"I'm thinking of buying a Model Y as it seems like the ideal electric family car, but I did a test drive yesterday and felt moderately motion sick afterwards," wrote one Reddit user.

Another user said: "I drive in an electric vehicle a lot, and I've found that regenerative braking absolutely makes me motion sick. I'm not always driving, so I don't always have control of how it's being driven, so other people's driving really makes me sick… I really need to find a solution fast".

Some drivers also reported their electric cars making their pets sick too.

"Since [buying] the Tesla, [my dog] throws up in it almost every time. Already messing up my carpets but such is life. It is city driving, but again not new to her. I've been trying to drive smoothly but still doesn't seem to help," one Reddit user said.

The reality is our bodies react differently to the forces in an electric car than to those we feel in an ICE vehicle, with EVs often confusing the brain based on what we're seeing, hearing and feeling.

There are several factors at play; we have some home remedies you can try, plus a look at what car manufacturers are doing to combat this carsickness.

Why do I feel sick in an electric car?
Being behind the wheel in an electric car will likely save you from suffering motion sickness because you're in control of the vehicle and know what's coming next.

A study titled Knowing what's coming: Anticipatory audio cues can mitigate motion sickness explained why drivers often don't feel the same motion sickness as their passengers.

"Being able to anticipate upcoming motion is known to potentially mitigate sickness resulting from provocative motion," the 2020 study from Vrije University in the Netherlands stated.

The research also provided insight into why electric cars may make you motion sick, and it actually comes down to their lack of sound.

"Average illness ratings were significantly lower for the condition that contained informative auditory cues, as compared to the condition without informative cues. This knowledge, i.e. that auditory signals can improve anticipation of motion, could be of importance in reducing carsickness in domains such as that of autonomous vehicles," the paper found.

A key factor that needs to be considered is the lack of engine noise in EVs. Our bodies are accustomed to riding in internal combustion vehicles, so the lack of noise and vibration in an EV can actually throw your balance off.

Another of the main contributors to carsickness in an EV is something called regenerative braking – a system in electric cars that generates force through the resistance while off the throttle to help charge the battery and add some extra range. This regenerative braking can often feel more aggressive and happen more frequently than conventional braking, particularly in stop-start traffic.

EVs also have a lot more torque and a more linear acceleration compared to their internal combustion counterparts. This means that those who aren't used to the immediate power and heavy acceleration associated with electric cars will often anticipate a lot less acceleration than usual, causing the body to get confused.

Another small factor that needs to be pointed out is the growing size of built-in screens in modern vehicles – not just electric cars.

Many passengers can be caught out by staring at the computer-sized head units that cover half the dash in models from the likes of Tesla or Polestar. Taking your eyes off the road and focusing on a large screen can throw your balance off, although it's hard not to stare at it when it's right there in front of you.

‘I need a solution fast’: Electric car owners complain of motion sickness

How to prevent carsickness in an EV
Most of the major brands like Tesla, BYD and MG all have adjustable regenerative braking options across a lot of their range. Lowering the regenerative braking in your car will give you a much smoother ride, but it'll come at the cost of losing some range.

Being smoother on the throttle will also help combat some of that motion sickness. As tempting as it is to jam the throttle off every set of lights to unleash that immediate torque, doing this is a surefire way to cause a mess for your passengers.

Manufacturers like Honda are looking to squash carsickness by revising their power mapping for a smoother ride at low speeds. Honda is on the case with its e:Ny1 (which is not available in Australia at this time) by changing their throttle map to emulate an acceleration similar to an ICE vehicle.

Adding that feeling of throttle lag that you get from internal combustion vehicles will help ease discomfort for those who aren't used to the immediate torque of an EV, likely at the cost of some performance.

Other brands, like Hyundai with the Ioniq 5 N, are adding fake engine sounds that are linked to the pedal on their EVs and even adding fake flappy paddles that mimic gear changes. While this is just a bit of fun for the owners, it could actually help combat some of the motion sickness felt in an EV.

How to fix motion sickness
Lucky for you, carsickness isn't a new thing. You can pick up a packet of TravaCalm or Kwell motion sickness tablets at your local pharmacy for under $10. These are a must-have in the glovebox to combat carsickness.

You can also pick up a pair of anti-motion sickness glasses online. These work by creating an artificial horizon in your peripheral vision to help stabilise your balance. These aren't clinically proven, but they're a low-risk option to try out that cost around $13 on Amazon.

If you don't want to take medication or try new gadgets, the easiest way to combat motion sickness is to look forward and not sit on your phone while in the car. Cracking the window for some fresh air and staying hydrated on long journeys also help.

A female CNN journalist heard about a very old Jewish man who had been going to the Western Wall to pray, twice a day, every day, for a long, long time.

So, she went to check it out. She went to the Western Wall and there he was, walking slowly up to the holy site.

She watched him pray and after about 45 minutes, when he turned to leave, using a cane and moving very slowly, she approached him for an interview.

"Pardon me, sir, I'm Rebecca Smith from CNN. What's your name?

"Morris Feinberg," he replied.

"Sir, how long have you been coming to the Western Wall and praying?"

"For about 60 years."

"60 years! That's amazing! What do you pray for?"

"I pray for peace between the Christians, Jews and the Muslims.

"I pray for all the wars and all the hatred to stop.

"I pray for all our children to grow up safely as responsible adults and to love their fellow man.

"I pray that politicians tell us the truth and put the interests of the people ahead of their own interests.

"How do you feel after doing this for 60 years?" asked the journalist.

"Like I'm talking to a brick wall."

The price of gasoline in France?

A thief in Paris planned to steal some paintings from the Louvre.

After careful planning, he got past security, stole the paintings and made it safely to his van. However, he was captured only two blocks away when his van ran out of gas.

When asked how he could mastermind such a crime and then make such an obvious error, he replied, "Monsieur, that is the reason I stole the paintings."

camping over the easter weekend
I stole this from elsewhere
” Easter weekend....it’s like woohoo a whole extra 48 hours off 😱😱😱 let’s pack everything we own, 6 kids, the canoe, the bbq, pack enough food to feed the whole of a 3rd world nation for a month, the bikes, the dog, 10 fishing rods and Grandma in the 4 tonne : 8 seater Land Cruiser we don’t know how to drive, then we’ll leave early to beat the traffic, ermmmm 10k out of town at Mount Kuring-gal - Cowan, no... every other numpty with a Anaconda - Kings -BCF membership got the same idea.
🙄 oh well nevermind nothing like 14 hours in a traffic jam all way to Hexham Bridge ahead of with screaming bored kids fighting over the DVD player and mashing half chewed lollies on the carpet while singing “Let it Go!” out of tune for the 10th time...
10.5 hours from home you’ve covered 108 kilometres ( The Ampol Twin Servo's ) and your cheese is about to slide off your cracker 😤 so you pull into a Service Centre packed with 2500 other equally mental fools, park sideways across 6 spots in the truck section coz you know the Toyota runs on diesel so you class it’s a ‘TRUCK‘ in your Mind
You all pile out of the big Toyota Cruiser Lorry, ignoring the cold stares from the guy trying to park his 31m B-double for a regulation break, send the kids to line up at Hungry Jack's for 57 minutes then still have no fkn clue what they want by the time you reach the server 🤨.... it doesn’t matter what the stinking rugrats order anyway coz 11 minutes later the wrappers are floating across the carpark, the soft serve is on the leather seats and the 5 year old has pickles in her hair and is screaming ‘you’re a poo poo head!” at the 9 year old who refuses to sit forwards or put his seat belt on 👊🏻....
Get to the End of M1 = YES another Stop at BP Bero & another Round of Hungry Jack's, Then pull out and take 3 hrs to go from Bero to Heatherbrae ( 5kms away ) via the Hexham Bridge ( Hoping the Taro Bridge does not Collapse ) into the Hexham Swap
16.8 hours after leaving Suburbs you reach the campsite a whole 154 kms away only to discover there’s no spots left within 17 kilometres of the bay or a toilet so you set up camp with the brown snakes 🐍 nowhere near the neighbors who promised to hold a spot for you 🙄🤦🏻**♂️
You spend the next day and a half listening to half pissed Karen yelling “JOHNNY!!! Stop hitting your Sister!!” and mumbling to your mates around the campfire about ‘serenity’ and ‘the good life’.... 🔥
9am Monday you’re thinking Cessnock Prison food can’t be that bad surely???, If I just bury them deep enough nobody will find them ?? On coast.
You say f☆☆k this I’ll leave early and beat the traffic while visions of the 17 hour journey down here flash through your head 💭🤔
Think of Mad Monday Traffic on the M1, 4wds on Fire, Boats - Caravans wheels falling off in front you doing 12kms per hr heading North on the M1
So Monday Comes around,, you pack the whole shebang back into the Pickle mobile along with the wet dog and sunburnt kids whining “weeeere hungreeeeeee!!!”, pull out onto the packed M1 Highway, Head for Hungry Jack's Wyong South, to appease the brats. fill up Ampol Wyong the ‘Truck - Cruiser ’ waiting in line behind the Others Rangers - Hilux with Tradie boxes with Jetskis / Small 5 ton small Ships on trailers on jack up 4wd at the Bower with a price of $2.45 a litre and heading the f☆☆k Back to Sydney and the Western Suburbs, the other 4.3 million City nufftys thinking bbq at home and a sleep in would have been a good idea!!
Just Another Easter Long weekend heading NORTH,
Happy Easter 2024 & see you again in 2025

Car owners take two automotive giants to High Court over faulty vehicles

As we navigate the roads of life, we expect our vehicles to be reliable companions.

However, for many Australian drivers, their trust in two automotive giants has been shaken to the core.

The High Court will become the battleground for a significant legal tussle involving Toyota and Ford, with the potential for compensation claims to soar into the billions.
The heart of the matter lies in the serious faults discovered in some of the vehicles produced by these manufacturers.

This has prompted class actions against both companies, with car owners demanding justice for the inconvenience and potential danger they've faced.

Car owners are taking legal action against Toyota and Ford in the Australian High Court over faulty vehicle compensation claims.

The case against Toyota revolves around a defect that has affected more than 264,000 vehicles, including popular models like the Hilux, Fortuner, and Prado, sold between 2015 and 2020.

The issue at hand is the malfunctioning diesel particulate filters, which were designed to capture and burn off harmful pollutants before they could escape into the atmosphere.

Instead, these faulty filters led to vehicles emitting foul-smelling white smoke, a decrease in fuel efficiency, and increased engine wear and tear.

Toyota's response to the problem stopped short of a full recall. In 2019, they initiated a campaign to clean, replace, or retrofit the affected vehicles.

However, the damage was done. An initial Federal Court ruling suggested that the defect devalued the cars by 17.5 per cent, roughly equating to $7,000 per vehicle.

This could lead to a staggering $2 billion compensation claim. Although this valuation was later reduced on appeal, the car owners are now seeking to have the original assessment reinstated by the High Court.

Ford's woes are centred around more than 73,000 vehicles, including the Fiesta, Focus, and Ecosport models sold between 2011 and 2018.

The class action, spearheaded by Biljana Capic, who experienced repeated issues with her Ford Focus, highlighted several key faults in the dry dual clutch transmission.

These faults led to harsh gear changes, sudden deceleration, intermittent engine revving, shuddering, and loss of power—issues that not only affect the driving experience, but also raise safety concerns.

Some of the vehicles exhibited only a portion of the faults, while others displayed all of them.

According to Ms Capic, despite numerous service visits and repairs—at least 15 times—the problems persisted.

While Ford acknowledged the manufacturing deficiencies, in its High Court submissions, it explained, ‘Ms Capic's vehicle was supplied in breach of the acceptable quality guarantee by reason of being manufactured with each of the deficiencies.’

‘In Ms Capic's case, the risks had, in fact, manifested in her vehicle.’

However, Ford argued that although other plaintiffs involved in the class action purchased vehicles with a ‘propensity’ for the faults, not all of the vehicles experienced these issues.

‘There was no evidence that any vehicle had become undriveable,’ Ford lawyers asserted.

Ford gradually implemented repairs for the vehicles.

The central issue in the case against Ford revolves around a violation of the Australian Consumer Law's guarantee that products meet an acceptable standard.

According to the law, compensation could be sought for any decrease in the value of the products due to a failure to meet this guarantee.

The key contention in these instances is determining the basis for calculating this compensation.

These cases will be heard consecutively by the court over the next two days.

Key Takeaways
Angry car owners are taking Toyota and Ford to the High Court in Australia over compensation claims for faulty vehicles.
Toyota is being sued for malfunctioning diesel particulate filters in over 264,000 vehicles, while Ford faces action over faulty gearboxes in more than 73,000 cars.
The Toyota case involves vehicles producing foul-smelling white smoke, resulting in reduced fuel efficiency and increased engine wear and tear.
In the Ford class action, the transmission faults resulted in harsh gear changes, sudden deceleration, and loss of power, with the case focusing on breaches of acceptable quality guarantee under Australian consumer law.
