Default Stalling a lot and low torque at low RPM

Is it just me or is the 3.8 V6 pretty gutless at low rpm?
My old 89 4.2 petrol Patrol just idled up my gentle front driveway slope, but I find the new Jeep has to be given some revs to avoid stalling resulting in a faster garage entry, or I have to slip the clutch to prevent it stalling, and even around town after a week I'm still stalling it embarassingly like a Learner driver.
Then sometimes it seems when it stalls it refuses to crank, unless I put the handbrake on.
The Jeep I test drove seemed to have similar problems if not worse because it had the taller diffs.
I'm a bit concerned about this engines offroad performance now at low rpm and especially as I plan to go bigger on tyres.

You just have to get used to the accelerator as it's "Drive-By-Wire"

It is definitely a downfall but after you get used to the accelerator you stop driving like a learner.

Also, get the dealership to upgrade the firmware of whatever it is. They did that to mine recently and I noticed a big improvement in accelerator response.

You can't really compare the two.

I used to have a 4.2 Petrol GQ before the Jeep. The big straight 6, as is the characteristic of all straight 6's, produces a bucket load of Torque down low. V6's are made to Rev and Rev hard.

Compare the Redlines for the two engine. The 4.2 Petty GQ redlined (and I am streatching my memory here) at 4,000 RPM. What's the redline of the V6? Around 5? 6?

its fairly normal to stall it when you first get it, most guys would have had a similar experience. I have the petrol also with 4.11 (rubicon) but i find the power fine and offroad it isnt an issue at all. I can idle up a steep decent with no accelerator response at all, mines a manual too. A mate of mine had a GQ patrol with 4.2 carby motor and it had nothing on mine as far as performance goes.
Maybe you need to give it a chance for the motor to bed in some more.

I agree, it's a mixture of getting used to the electronic throttle, and the engine breaking in. Mine is perfectly fine now, very responsive and no issues at all...apart from sucking the fuel if I get lead foot.

mate you won't get the same from this motor as you will from the traditional type 4wd commercial engine. it is designed as a high performance engne and has it's max torque at 4000 rpm, very high for a 4wd truck. i drove one with a slush box and didn't like it at all, needed lots of help to get moving, but once moving it was o.k. prefer the diesel engine.

Well today I tried it on some crossed up grass ditch stuff, enough to give the lockers a try anyway, and I'm pretty happy with the engine at low rpm then. Unfortunately when I reversed it into the garage today I was forced to use low range on the concrete or it wasn't going to make it without frying the clutch, luckily my driveway is straight.
I will ring the dealer on Monday and see if they can check it out and reflash the chip if necessary, it's only got 500km on it so far. There's got to be more bottom end horses somewhere, my brothers V6 Commodore can reverse ok into my garage. It seemed to stall more often today about 4 or 5 times at lights, and also refused to crank afterwards for a few seconds. I did reverse it into my garage easier the day I picked it up, something may be screwy.
And my Patrol used to redline at 6000rpm actually with no problems, due to a Fireball ignition system and disabling the rev limiter
