MACK Munchers

To all the old truckies or 'paddock crosses' out there...I see in the Big Rigs Forum that Cleveland Freightlines is closing on the 30th of this month...Founder/Owner...Frank Lenzi...is in poor health and has decided to close the doors...end of an era....for tge 'uninitiated'...MACK Munchers got that name as Frank bought HIGH HP Kenworths...they were the only trucks on the road able to compete with the MACK Trucks on the road, which were the preferred rigs to do the 'paddock cross'...hence...MACK Munchers....wouldnt be a truckie...car...or caravan tower that hasnt encountered a MACK Muncher if you've 'crossed the paddock' since the late '70's....my Kombi reached its fastest speed ever, may have been a World Record for a Kombi !, when being overtaken by a 'West bound' MACK Muncher on the Kimba straights...had to throw it into neutral so the engine didnt explode....anybody wondering what Im talking about...its the 'drafting' effect when a large fast moving truck overtakes you...it 'sucks' you along...I personally met a lot of the drivers...mostly professional operators with great respect for the rigs they were given to drive and the Company they worked for...East-West Specialists...Express Freight Specialists...sad, for me anyway, to see an Industry Institution come to an end....Im sure International Companies that have 'taken over' the Industry will be happy to see them close....as for Aussie Freight Companies...Cleveland Freightlines will remain a Legend
