spotties whistle

Hey,

Installing some spotties on my new mbrp rack, so pretty much straight over my head on a JK.

Most spotties i have found seem to have a little gab between the main body and the lense, this seems to lead to a slight wistle i can hear that starts at around 70kph.

My question is does anyone know what kind of heat 100W lights would generate around them and what i might be able to use to seal this gap?
Anyone know if silicon normally used around the house will withstand the temps?
I could atleast break the seal with a knife when i need to replace bulbs.

Try some tape over/around screws/bolt heads on the fittings too ... as that can cause whistles.

Self amalgamating tape is good with heat and its easier to get off than silastic.

Dont know about the heat problem ... probably depends on the lamp brand and design.

In theory a significant portion of the "heat" is radiated forward so your mountings should remain relatively cool, I like the heatshrink tape suggested above but would add that regular "gaffa tape" should also be suitable
