Default Leaking power steering rack

I have a leaking power steering rack, it’s leaking at the input shaft for the steering column, is this fixable and how hard is it I’m assuming the rack has to come out? Does anybody know what parts, seals etc I need to fix it? I will have to get it done ona weekend as I need my car and I don’t fancy pulling it out twice.
Thanks for the advice in advance.

If you want to do a swap & go see if you can get onto a reco rack.
mark exactly where the half shaft aligns with the input shaft when wheels straight ahead.
Get a good quality brake pipe spanner to remove line fittings

OEM manual says remove front diff
Also need solid ball joint splitting tools/technique
Dunno if you've got to reset clock spring alignment
Then get a wheel alignment.

Otherwise;
possibly replace the input shaft bush,
adjust all the slack from the rack,
install new seal,
pressure test,
wheel alignment.

There is no indication in the parts catalogue
of any sizes and the OEM manual doesn't refer to
any clearances or settings.

Cheers mate

went through this a couple of years ago.Part no of rack was 52124702AA. or 52124301AA also seems to fit 05-10 .Rack recon guys in Aus were vague and said if certain parts worn would need a good donor rack.Give Murchisons in Brisbane a ring he should have some idea where to go.Got a recon rack from UK for my mate,Price was ok. Not too difficult job.Did not remove front diff.Took off tierods. Remember you will need ps fluid.Mobil 424 appears to work ok. Of course a good second hand rack would be ok. Try the Jeep wreckers in Hervey Bay.

Thanks for the advice seems like it might be straight forward.
I have a second hand rack in the back shed i might swap it over and keep my old one and give it a reco.

Going to need a wheel alignment regardless it's out atm as i have had the front end apart that many times lately, ties rods need to be replaced in mine and possibly the other one i have, lucky my brother has both outers and inners for me that he got off a friend.

If the diff does have to come out i might sort out my new right hand hub and axle at the same time. axles been out makes the diff easy to remove at least.

As far as the fluid goes i use Penrite PAS fluid and i find it great and it's reasonably priced and easy to get.

I will keep you's posted.
