Well, I finally got the snorkel installed. I actually washed the car before taking for the fitting - I had to wash it twice to get the bulk of the red dust off it.

I also finally fitted my 2 x 2.5 metre awning as well.

They originally put the small ram head on:

Compare the two:

I changed it over to the bigger one as per Michael's instructions:

I also moved the fridge slide over to the passenger side. Must have had a brain fart when I installed it on the driver's side...

And I moved the compressor/air tank to behind the driver's seat to free up room in the back:

Now I will get to see how the snorkel goes on the Crossover Gathering trip next week.

Cheers

I am curious as to your thinking regarding the fidge on the passengers side? I have always had my fridge on the drivers side, with the fridge door opening so I stand on the 'passengers side' away from any traffic, and can still get to the rest of my gear in the back.

Roachy

We use the fridge in the back of the car for cryovac meat - and then anything else that fits in.

When hooked up to our Crossover and you want to get to the meat, it is a real pain to have to walk from the camper kitchen all the way around the car to get to the fridge when it is on the driver's side. If we are staying a while or using the car it is no problem, but quite often we don't uncouple the car because there is no reason to. I can just pop open the flipper glass and open the fridge.

It had annoyed me so I though, okay, why not swap it over? The old T-nuts are still there, so if I find it is worse, I can quickly swap it back.

As to the stuff on the other side of the back, I would very rarely have to access it while traveling.

Cheers

Ok that makes sense. I don't normally tow so not normally a issue though I might setup my fridge slide/floor (when I have time to get it done) to mount on either side.

Flexibility is usually a good thing. And for the cost of a few T-nuts...

Cheers

I went with these guys because they had done many snorkels on Jeeps and they used my car to pull apart to work out how to do it. The large head certainly drew in a lot of air.

I am now on my second WK2 - a grey Limited - and I don't have a snorkel on it. I have redone the battery box/fridge/compressor setup for it.

I changed the battery box to a Korr one and the compressor to a twin piston Thumper. The twin Thumper is very fast - pressurising the air tank to 125 psi in around 30 seconds instead of minutes for the old Bushranger MaxAir. It pumps up a 265/60R18 Hankook from 0 psi to 40 psi in two minutes flat.

The battery box is brilliant - it has 4 x 50 Amp Anderson plugs and 1 x 175 Amp Anderson plug as well as 2 x cig sockets and 2 x 2.1 Amp USB's plus a master switch and VSR built in.

I have a Ctek D250S Dual inside the box, so I don't use the VSR.

The battery box, fridge and compressor/air tank all fit neatly on the back.

The Waeco CF45 litre fits in perfectly and the cover I simply turned inside out so the silver is on the outside. I know you can reflect heat, but I don't think you can reflect cold, so why have the silver on the inside???

Cheers
