Wait Times on new Grand, why?

There were plenty of Laredo and Limited available at my dealer, even have seen the occasional CRD among them but none with QL
Thought if I have to wait then I can as well get all the toys and ordered the Overland

So does anyone know the wait times on the Limited Hemi at this time? I can understand the diesel's having a wait as they offer the best performance to economy option.
I had to laugh when a local dealer recently tried to convince me that the Pentastar was a better option than paying $5K for a diesel. Funny, why is there a wait on diesels yet you can provide immediate delivery on a Pentastar. Sales people!

There are still some sitting in the lots at Sydney dealers. If you look around you can take it home for the weekend.

But don't you think it's all relevant...if the car is only going to be used as a soccer mums car, doesnt tow anything & stuff like that the 5K premium for a CRD will take forever even allowing for better resale & not mention higher servicing costs to recover.

So given the circumstances, his intentions may not have been too far off the mark.

It's not always which is the better engine but which one may be the better fit for the intended use of the vehicle.

Thanks Pwy, it is a consideration but thinking about it, I would wait for the 6sp in the case of a Hemi anyway, I assume they will arrive early in 2012.

Tiddy, yes a Pentastar would in most cases just undercut a diesel for total cost of ownership depending on the km travelled, how much was paid, etc but for my circumstances, there is nothing in the cost. If I simply use two lease quotes for the same company travelling just 15k per yr the Laredo petrol is $16109, the diesel is $16512. Now (with all due respect to Pentastar owners) my sanity to have a vehicle that actually has some grunt is worth a few thousand $$. Yes, I have driven the Pentastar and Hemi and I would pay the extra $5K (plus petrol) for the Hemi. The diesel would provide the V8 grunt (not the sound unfortunately) at virtually no extra cost. No wonder it's a popular choice.

So technically the sales person is correct for most scenarios however I am not a hardcore accountant and actually appreciate the drive, that certainly makes the diesel better value I say.

Had the same thought but I believe the 6sp will only be available in the Hemi and I wanted the CRD. Anyway, ordered a 2012 CRD so in the unlikely case the CRD gets the 6sp mine will have it
