Thanks Pwy, it is a consideration but thinking about it, I would wait for the 6sp in the case of a Hemi anyway, I assume they will arrive early in 2012.
Tiddy, yes a Pentastar would in most cases just undercut a diesel for total cost of ownership depending on the km travelled, how much was paid, etc but for my circumstances, there is nothing in the cost. If I simply use two lease quotes for the same company travelling just 15k per yr the Laredo petrol is $16109, the diesel is $16512. Now (with all due respect to Pentastar owners) my sanity to have a vehicle that actually has some grunt is worth a few thousand $$. Yes, I have driven the Pentastar and Hemi and I would pay the extra $5K (plus petrol) for the Hemi. The diesel would provide the V8 grunt (not the sound unfortunately) at virtually no extra cost. No wonder it's a popular choice.
So technically the sales person is correct for most scenarios however I am not a hardcore accountant and actually appreciate the drive, that certainly makes the diesel better value I say.
