I agree to a point, however I think that the catch can and EGR blank are a great idea for any diesel engine.
The tune and other bits are great for me because I tow a lot and always intended to keep it for a long time. I get the benefit of the awesome power and torque gains...... and fuel economy.
As far as costs, definitely not in the thousands.
Cheers, Craig

Definitely wouldn't call it 'thousands'.
Each to their own, but I don't regret the spend

THanks for the replies, I have a catch can on the way and an idrive unit as I wanted to get rid of the lag with a tune but this is the cheaper option for now.
I will get the inlet cleaned at the 80000km service and hopefully give it a healthier life from now on. Is it worth getting the inter cooler and turbo flushed/cleaned too?? I have read of some good results with people using this stuff but can’t find it in Aus - Archoil AR6400-D max.
I will also be changing to 5w-40 this service, does the 3.0L breathe as much oil vapour on the 40 or doesn’t make any difference?

Hi, I fitted a Flashlube catchcan at around 30K and was then using the 30 oil and have been using the 40 oil for last 3 oil changes and noticed no difference with the amount of oil the CC collects. It was surprising though the amount of vapour that this thing collects over a few thousand Ks, all that crap is going through your turbo, intercooler and finally your intake so I would definitely recommend a CC if you want to keep your car for more than 100K, cheap insurance at approx. $300 spend.

I have a Flashlube catchcan on its way here this week. Hopefully the old girl has plenty of life left in her yet. Damn all these new emissions reducing shit, it would be nice if they gave advice from new or fitted catchcans from factory knowing the sort of damage that can be done.
