Default Why do we do it?

Thought I might try and get a general idea ( can't spell consensus ) on CJ owners of why we own them. Not so much to have a bitch that this broke and I can't find parts but more why we love the rigs so much. Although a new owner of a CJ here in Oz, have had a few in the states, put up with the oil leaks, the exhaust that was done by someone with less than reputable credentials which would cause you to well up with tears in the eyes and then backfire going down the road (yes I fixed it), the popped wheel cylinders etc. Hopefully someone else might look at it and get bitten by the CJ bug ( as it is ) and more might get out and hit the trails with us in future, or just to see more on the road would be a great start.

I love putting up with the headaches of minor breakages, and the oil leaks in the driveway basically because I can work on mine myself, no computers nothing like that. I think Jeep had the right idea just that simplicity was the key to reliability. So go ahead and chuck your thoughts in CJ owners and let the world know how you feel about your beloved CJ!

1. It is simple like its owner
2. the classic look
3. I dont like the cloned look of others running around ( its not soo bad now but about 2 years ago it got to the point i could tell you which Australian workshop built a TJ just by the look of it) Many have broken this mould now
4. I like to do my own stuff to it
5. overall cost of ownership hasnt been too bad
6. It is part of the family now and stays
7. I really like to get away with other old jeep owners, it must be something about knowing the pain we go through at times everyone is great bunch of people and this is the reason I arrange CNP BTW Ozzy hope your planning to join us in Nov

Would love to, hopefully everything going to plan and work permitting should be there, keep me posted!

Love the "Clone TJ" comment it is just too true! Whereas CJ's represent their owners wants and wishes as to how they look!

Simple. My old man gave me a wreck 2a when was about 11. Didn't get it going for another 15 years and for the last 25 years we try and get it going every couple of years. I have lost track of the number of jeeps I've had.
Mostly cj's, but also a couple of trucks and xj's. Just a kid with big dinky toys.
