On 17 May 2018, I did an online query, about nav/map updates, with the jeep.com.au website. Yesterday, 30 May they rang me to tell me a case had been opened and a customer service agent would call me in the next 3 business days - they case me the case number too.

Today they called me and advised that the latest update is still undergoing testing as it keeps crashing. My response was along the lines of "wow, it must be a huge systems update then if it keeps crashing".

In my mind it is just the background map data that needs updating, I am sure you all agree? Although the nav system could be better. Mine regularly tells me to prepare to turn right/left 800 (or more) meters away from the turning.

Anyhow - long story short they said they don't know when it will be ready but owners will get a letter advising when it is.

They also offered me up to $200 refunded on my purchasing a "TomTom or similar device." Hmmm $200 off a Hema HX1?

So - NAVTEQ is the company behind the nav systems used by FCA.
Since acquired by Nokia and then sold to three German car makers in 2015 (Audi, BMW and Daimler), they have been known as Here since 2012.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Navteq
https://www.here.com/en/navteq

They run their own map updates- (https://here.navigation.com/apac/find-a-map-update) causing me to temporarily get all excited...

Alas, when you select Jeep as your brand it diverts you to the jeep.com.au find a dealer near you page.. GRRRR!!!

Selecting Holden takes you here https://www.holden.com.au/owning/servicing
Map Updates are $179 for them

I have just ended a live chat with Navteq/Here and they inform me that the map updates for the RHP units shipped to Jeep dealers in early May.

Lol. They told me the updates kept crashing back in January. A few complaints on their FB page and magically an update appeared out of the blue for just me. Have been running it since then and all faults are now solved, except of course for ancient map data

Best solution is an aftermarket head unit, or use your phone. Mapping apps use stuff all data but heaps of battery.
