Definately sounds do-able mate

Sounds like you've given it a lot of thought. Will be very interesting to see how it all pans out as you go along.

So with the MML, you're hoping to run the front drive shaft UNDER the sump fromt across the t/case side to the centre of the front diff. I'm assuming you're retaining the NP231 for the mean time. How will flaxing the axle up affect the upward and downward travel of the front shaft?

The shaft shouldn't go under the sump (much). the diff centre isn't that far away fom where the Dana30 is.....but size of the diff - hence why I believe I'll need to lft the engine further than it's current 1" MML....

Anyhow as I said that's the basic game plan as it stands, but like all projects this size no doubt things will change & evolve as things progress.
As for the time - TTC06 is firmly in our sights - but will seriously have to pull a finger out & maybe grab some holidays

Yeah his one of the people I've already been in contact with.
Infact his execution is VERY similar to what I have in mind - ie keep it low & make it look relatively "normal".
Oh yeah the other thing I'm contemplating is a 3 speed Stak T/case with the overdrive option - so I can still get to 100km/h under 4000rpm But the cost means that this will not happen for a while

yes it is ROFL..

both front and rear are 95mm off centre. i left my axles full width, but if i was building to your application - trying to stay low and short, with a long drivetrain - i would definitely be taking about 150mm out of the width, shortening the short side of the front gets the pinion out from under the sump, and shortening the long side of the rear brings it over to centre.
i could hang the front axle way out in front of the motor and cut the sump around the pinion to get it low, you won't have that luxury as your axle will be sitting somewhere under piston #2. keeping all the fuel tank junk behind the rear axle is gonna be a nightmare to build low with as well, the pinion flange will just about be bolted to the t/case output.
it'll be an awesome car, but once the axles are slung under it you'll see all these problems i am rattling on about. narrow the axles and it will be alot easier.
stock mog brakes and wheels will be fine. the adjustment and bleeding of the drums is finnicky though.
you did well to buy the torque tubes as well, makes the pinion conversions a piece of piss.
you can swap the steering arms left to right to get the tie-rod out the front, ackerman is less than perfect though. couple places in the states make custom arms for 404's now anyway.
