look at the video I posted and you will see how to remove the key barrel etc. an actuator connects the barrel to the switch which sometimes breaks.

if broken then remove and insert a screwdriver and turn the switch to start with the key next to it so the key is read and doesnt immobilize your jeep. the "actuator" is just a short rectangular tab connecting the key barrel assy to the switch assy

Hi Guys, Well I manged to get the ignition switch out and tried using a screwdriver directly to start the car to see if it was the actuator that was broken.....same thing happens. Fuel pumps doesn't stop priming and engine warning light flashes. No click and no crank. I did put the key cylinder back in its place so the key can disengage the immobilizer. So I'm guessing that the Ignition Actuator is functioning ok.

I had a close look at as much of the wiring I could see in the engine bay to the starter, and everything looks ok as far as i can see. But there is definately something wrong obviously. Any more ideas? Should I be testing the Ignition switch itself?

Rule out the starter motor first. Run a wire from the ignition feed on the starter motor solenoid directly to the battery positive and see if it starts cranking. If it does, the problem lies elsewhere, if it doesn't, your starter motor is fried. MAKE SURE THE JEEP IS IN NEUTRAL OR PARK BEFORE YOU DO THIS
