I forget who told me this and I may have misunderstood but just lower gears in the transfer case and/or gearbox will put extra torque on the drive shafts and joints etc so they may be more suseptable to twisting, breaking etc.

Changing diff ratios puts the torque multiplication after the drive shafts so they are therefore under less load. I guess when engine braking the forces are in the opposite direction but since its only gravity rather than engine power its still a better option.

Dudes,
Put some awsome 28" GSAs back on your rig or switch to 14" rims for an even better tyre selection to really get that crawl ratio down.

All you people mucking around with diff ratios, TeraLows are crazy that sheet just costs too much. Smaller tyres are the way of the future, and they'll help your c of g as well.

Get serious boys fit some 195R14LT Dunlop Adventures, then I'll show you some respect!

you may laugh but with 28s and 4.88diffs and no speedo recalibration you get to the speed limited 160km before you know it , its around 100km/h actual
